Mohammad Dehghani (محمد دهقانی) finished his secondary education during the war between Iran and Iraq. Like many other young people, instead of going to university, he went to war. At the age of 22, he was taken prisoner by Iraqi forces and spent nearly 5 and a half years imprisoned by the Iraqi Ba’athist regime.
In 1991, Dehghani enrolled in the University of Tehran to study Judicial Rights, becoming a member of the Student Basij. Later, he became president of The Student Basij of the University of Tehran and Political Deputy of the National Student Basij Organization.
In January 2004, Dehghani defended his Ph.D. and officially graduated. After two years, his name was on the Prinicplist ballot for the seventh parliamentary elections representing the Targhobeh and Chenaran constituency. As a member of parliament, he gained membership to the Legal and Judicial Commission, becoming its spokesperson.
Dehghani served four consecutive terms in the parliament. In July 2019, with the votes of representatives of the tenth parliament, he was selected as a member of the Guardian Council.
During his four terms in the parliament, Dehghani served as an extremist Principlist, delivering many speeches against Reformists, The Green Wave, Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (nuclear treaty), and other things. He asked for the execution of Mir Hossein Mousavi, the leader of the Green Wave.
